WWE 2K18 Fantasy Survivor Series Tournament

By Jim Kennedy

For the first time ever, the members of Beyond The Top Rope will compete in the first ever BTTR Fantasy Survivor Series Tournament! Using the WWE 2k18 video game, we will draft our respective teams, and then pit the teams in a traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Tag Team match. The teams will compete in a single elimination tournament to determine which fantasy team is the best among the BTTR members! So let's take a quick look at how this tournament is going to work, shall we?

Draft Information
To see who will represent their respective teams, the competitors will have a WWE Draft to fill their five-man slots. There are rules to who can be drafted, and each team must adhere to these following rules:
  • Wrestlers drafted must be on the WWE 2k18 overall roster. You can find the full list of superstars here.
  • All wrestlers on the list are eligible, with the exception of the women.
  • Teams will draft a total of 10 superstars for their team. They will have 5 main starters and 5 reserve members (similar to fantasy sports). Here's the rundown on who must be drafted:
    • Six (6) main roster wrestlers, regardless of their brand designation;
    • Two (2) NXT wrestlers;
    • Two (2) "Legend" wrestlers. Superstars considered to be "Legends" are Hall of Famers, retired, and/or in a authority role.
  • Tournament rosters for tournament matches include:
    • 3 main roster wrestlers
    • 1 NXT wrestler
    • 1 "Legends" wrestler
    • 5 reserves (3 main event, 1 NXT, 1 Legend)
  • Teams can select main roster and NXT superstars at any point in the draft, but all Legends MUST be selected with the final two rounds in the draft.
  • Teams can trade their picks with other teams. However, teams cannot trade their first round pick OR their "Legends" picks. Trade deadline is 72 hours (three days) following the draft.

Tournament Information
Once the draft is completed, we shall draw for matchups in our single elimination tournament. All tournament matches will be simulated on WWE 2k18. The reason for the simulation and not actually having us play the game is due to everyone's schedule, it'll be difficult for us to meet to play. Full matches will be posted on YouTube and this respective blogsite for the public to view. ALL RESULTS ARE FINAL! The winners shall move to the Championship match, while the losing teams will compete for 3rd place.

YouTube Posting Schedule
The YouTube videos and posts will be posted the week leading up to Survivor Series. First video will be the Draft from the podcast episode on Tuesday, Nov. 14; the two first round matches on Wednesday, Nov. 15 and Thursday, Nov. 16; the bronze medal match on Friday, Nov. 17, and the championship on Saturday, Nov. 18, just hours before NXT TakeOver: Houston.

Fan Participation
Fans of BTTR will get the opportunity to have their voices heard before the tournament kicks off! On our Twitter page (@BTTRPodcast), we're going to release a poll to see what "WWE Show" on WWE 2k18 will host the finals of our tournament! Fans will pick between two generic shows, and two "created" show that I'll make in-game. A video will be released showcasing all the candidates so fans can vote on their favorite, and the pick with the most votes will win. In the event of a tie, a coin flip will be used to determine the winner!

Fans can also follow the whole tournament by following us on Twitter (@BTTRPodcast) as we'll let you guys know when the videos are up and ready to watch!
